CARE’s Founder to Receive Visionary Leadership Award

Hon. John C. Ninfo II, a retired U.S. Bankruptcy Judge, will receive the William E. Odom Visionary Leadership Award from the National Jump$tart Coalition for Financial Literacy at the coalition’s virtual awards ceremony on April 16. The coalition consists of more than 100 national organizations and a network of 51 independent, affiliated state coalitions that share a commitment to advancing youth financial literacy.

Judge Ninfo founded Credit Abuse Resistance Education (CARE) in 2002 and has spent the last 23 years crusading for mandatory personal finance education in schools. “I can think of no one more deserving of this award,” said Tammy Hettinger, Executive Director of CARE. “Judge Ninfo continues to work on behalf of young people day in and day out to help them build better futures.” His most recent call to action, “Project Warp Speed,” spotlights the need for families to teach personal finance at home in light of the Covid pandemic.

The William E. Odom Visionary Leadership Award was first presented in 1999 to Bill Odom, former chair of the Ford Motor Credit Company, whose vision led to the creation of the Jump$tart Coalition. “It is humbling to be included among the many giants in the financial education field who have received this leadership award,” said Judge Ninfo.
