Be a Financial Education Champion

Each month, CARE publishes a column called the “CARE Corner” in the American Bankruptcy Institute’s “ABI Journal.” This is the October 2018 column republished and lightly edited for the website blog. This month we make a call for  CARE’s Annual Volunteer Award Nominations.

Volunteer Award Nominations– Due Oct. 19th

Each year, CARE awards several honors to its chapters and volunteers to recognize the hard work they have accomplished throughout the year. Last year, CARE expanded volunteer recognitions to ensure all facets of the volunteer program were recognized. These awards are Volunteer of the Year, Chapter of the Year, and Rising Star.

The Volunteer of the Year award goes to an individual who has gone above and beyond to further the cause and make an impact in their community and chapter. The Chapter of the Year award goes to an entire chapter for their work, growth, and success as a chapter. The Rising Star Award goes to a volunteer who joined this year and has quickly made a huge impact.

All CARE volunteers are eligible for nomination. Volunteer award nominations should be emailed to CARE Programs Manager Ian Redman at [email protected] by Oct. 19th. Awards will be presented at the Second Annual CARE Holiday Reception on December 6th in Scottsdale, AZ, held during ABI Winter Leadership Conference. Tickets can be purchased here.

Join a CARE Board Committee

If you are interested in a different way to volunteer for CARE, consider serving on one of its board committees. The key committees where help is needed are Development, Education and Outreach, and Technology and Innovation.

The Development Committee works to advance CARE’s mission by helping the staff raise much-needed funds. The Education and Outreach Committee works to develop and implement new educational materials and programming. The Technology Committee works on making improvements to CARE’s website and social media initiatives, as well as relevant technologies to the organization.

Board service is not required to serve on a board committee. For more information, email CARE Programs Manager Ian Redman at [email protected].

Visit the CARE Booth at NCBJ

CARE staff Ian Redman hopes to see you in San Antonio for the National Conference of Bankruptcy Judges Annual Conference from October 28-31. Visit the CARE exhibit table to meet CARE’s founder Hon. John C. Ninfo II (ret.) and learn more about CARE’s financial education program. This is a great opportunity to join CARE’s monthly donor club: CARE Champions.
